The Florida Strawberry Festival is a great time to discover the charm and allure of Plant City, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy eating ripe, luscious strawberries alongside the local berry farmers that have worked hard to bring them to market. The annual event, now ranked among the Top 40 Fairs in North America, dates back to 1930 when the newly organized Plant City Lions club founded a celebration of the strawberry harvest. Following a nearly 6-year hiatus due to the Second World War, the festival was restarted by the American Legion Post #26 in 1948 and has continued annually ever since. The festival draws an annual attendance of nearly 500,000 visitors from across the state and country. The Festival grounds host a number of community events throughout the year.
