Main Street Program
A Florida Main Street Program, Plant City Main Street, Inc. was formed to play an active role in preserving our community’s past while building our future through continuous improvement, economic growth, and carefully planned development of downtown Plant City.
The Main Street approach advocates a return to community self-reliance and emphasizes the downtown’s traditional assets: personal service, local ownership, unique architecture, McCall Park, historic preservation, and a sense of community.
Plant City Main Street is a non-profit corporation whose objective is to improve the image of Plant City’s downtown by facilitating positive incremental changes and economic growth, using the Florida Main Street Program 4-Point Approach.
1 ORGANIZATION: How it works!
Developing methods to raise the financial resources necessary for a sustainable long-term program
2 PROMOTION: Let the show begin!
Encouraging consumers and investors to live, work, play, and invest in downtown through advertising, retail promotions, special events, and marketing campaigns
3 DESIGN: Pay attention to details!
Creating an inviting downtown atmosphere through decorations, signage, and streetscape to capitalize on downtown’s historic buildings, McCall Park, Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum & Viewing Platform, and pedestrian friendly streets
4 ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: Let’s keep growing!
Strengthening downtown’s existing economic assets while expanding and diversifying its economic base through increased business, business retention, and business recruitment.
